Stillwaters are a great place to catch larger fish. Our definition of a great stillwater rod is:
Person
Picks
Ken Davis
Winston 9' 6 Wt. LTX
Matt Drahos
Sage Z-Axis 9'7
Nick Teynor
Sage 691-4 Z-Axis
Steve Schmidt
Sage 691-Z Axis 9' 1'' 6 Wt.
The rod is comfortable to cast from a float tube or boat with weighted lines, up to a class 4 sinking line. The rod is either a 5 or 6 weight. The rod keeps our line off the water when we are casting. The water we are fishing can range from a farm pond loaded with bluegills and bass to a big western reservoir where the chance of catching a 26" trout is a real possibility.
